The Head of the Parliamentary Library of Ireland (Madelaine Dennison) is facing a proposal to amalgamate the parliamentary library with the National Library of Ireland, which happens to be just next door.  She has conducted a well structured research project, to which I contributed as requested, and she is currently writing up her report.  I will post it here as soon as it is available.  From discussions at this year´s excelent preconference at the National Assembly Library of Korea, this is also a live issue for them.  In many ways they are playing the same roles as the National Library, and are in effect seeking to usurp this role altogether, although they cannot do this formally withoy legislation.  Is this also a live issue for others, and can we collate some date about these relationships?
